According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression is about 50% more common among women than among men. Furthermore, from 2010 to 2021, the rate of postpartum depression increased by 60% among White mothers, 110% among Hispanic mothers, 140% among Black mothers, and 280% among Asian/Pacific Islanders mothers (Getahun et al., 2023). Only approximately 15% of women diagnosed with postpartum depression receive treatment Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health, 2023).
Upon completion of this niche certification program, training participants receive a Maternal Mental Community Health Worker Certificate™ (MMCHW™). The MMCHW™ is a prestigious national health professional designation that represents consistency, focus, and specific commitment to maternal and mental health.
Community Health Worker is a career pathway designated and recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Bureau of Health Workforce. The 170-hour MMCHW Training Program™ curriculum contains a curated collection of trainings that have been developed according to national and federal quality standards for training design and delivery. It represents the only certification reflecting the intersection of maternal health, mental health, and community health worker competencies.
Over 1500 public health professionals, doulas, midwives, nurses, and other professionals have enrolled. In addition, some modules do offer CE and trainees can submit the MMCHW™ curriculum to your certifying CHW body for CE credit review.
Training length is based on national recommended competencies and common CHW training program requirements. If there are CHW requirements in your state, seek advance approval for this curriculum if you want state-level credit.
